I found out something interesting Friday last week regarding my 9:20-10:20 MWF class. Let's put it this way: I am constantly absent and forever late for that particular subject. Monday last week: No problem; I managed to get my ass off the bed earlier than usual. Wednesday last week: I missed the class (yet again). Friday last week: I was late for about 5 minutes at the most but I was still marked tardy for that day since my name had already been called when I entered the room (that's what you get for having a surname that starts with B). Knowing I am near the limit, I approached the prof at the end of the class.
Me: (With fingers crossed) Sir, ilang absences na po meron ako?
Prof: (Looking at the attendance sheet) 6.5.
Me: (Whew. Less than expected) Sir... umm... magbabagsak ba po kayo base sa attendance?
Prof: Of course!
Me: Ah... Okay. Salamat po. (Deep inside, TANGINAAAAAAA!!!!!)
Anyway, I'm in deep shit. The allowable absences for that class was 7.5, meaning if I exceeded one more absent, I'd fail. By the way, it's midterms week this week, right? Yey.
So, yesterday evening, I was set on sleeping early. I was in bed by 11:00PM (Yes, that is relatively earlier). Kaso, HINDI AKO MAKATULOG. When I looked at my cellphone, it was 12 Midnight. So I thought, if I slept now, I won't be able to wake up in time to prepare for my class. As of experience, it had always been like that. And then I decided to busy myself so as not to fall asleep to my doom. Come 7:30AM, I began my morning ritual. I went to the kitchen to tell my lola that I would be back by 9PM when I noticed that I still had time to eat breakfast. I settled for BLACK coffee so as not to miss anything inside the classroom. And then, I was off to school.
As expected, I arrived ahead of time. I was outside the classroom at about 9:10. The previous class was in the room so I patiently waited outside. Then Don, my classmate, came. I told him my situation. Then I said something.
"Alam mo ang bad trip? Pag wala si sir!"
And we laughed. Then it was time. We entered the room and I heard the "good" news. "WALANG PASOK BROADAC!"
All that for nothing. It is still morn. Ah yes, this is the mourning after. Oh yeah, it is still Monday. I am in the Malate office. I can't sleep even if I wanted to. The coffee worked. As I had said earlier, "Great. JUST great."
