In a few hours...

I will see the end of my so-called social "life".

My OJT at IBM officially starts in 10 hours. Originally, I had planned to give up my other job once OJT season starts. However, when I discovered that my salary at IBM would only amount to Php180 per day, I figured I had to keep my job at Cara Celine. I did the Math: My daily salary would be Php180. It would cost me around Php80 to get from my place to the office and back. That would leave me with a hundred bucks for food. But get this: IBM is located in Eastwood. Good luck with that Manuel Roxas. Anyway, at that rate, nothing would be left with me. That is why I need onBooks. And this would be my schedule:

 MWF

600 - Wake-up (GOOD LUCK)

830 - Start of IBM work

1730 - End of IBM work

1900 - Start of review class for a Korean "student"

2100 - End of review class/Start of Cara Celine work

2300 - End of Cara Celine work

2330 - Sleep

TH

600 - Wake-up (GOOD LUCK)

830 - Start of IBM work

1730 - End of IBM work

1900 - Start of Cara Celine work

2300 - End of Cara Celine work

2330 - Sleep

Saturdays and Sundays

Tentative Schedule. Might be for Cara Celine work or Thesis.

Day One

Woke up at 7AM. Arrived 25 minutes late for work. Ms. Claire gave me a P3 laptop with battery problems. It requires constant power supply for it to work. So much for the definition of a LAPtop. Haha.

Anyway, did nothing much during the morning. Spent most of it with a short tour of the place, reformatting the laptop, installing Windows 2000 in it (or more appropriately, waiting for the installation to finish), and conversing with the people. At around 12 noon, we had lunch.

When I came back at 1PM, we continued with the installation of some drivers and programs. This is taking a hell of a lot of time. I might be continuing with this tomorrow and on Monday.

Programs to be installed:

MS Office, RPM, Notes Client, VISIO, MS Projects.

Oh yeah. Today was someone's birthday. Had two slices of Yellow Cab Pizza. Haha!

Day Two

Arrived an hour and 30 minutes late for work. Finished installing MS Office and Lotus Notes. Will install the rest of the programs on Monday. Fixed five of the team members' timesheets on Excel.

I will leave in 11 minutes. I have to get to Padre Faura before 7PM. It's a payday Friday. Eep.

Day Three

For the first time, I was early for work. I arrived at around 8:20 AM. Ms. Clair asked me to run Lotus Notes but she remembered that I still haven't got a User ID. She asked me to bring it to the ISSI Department to have it configured. I waited for it and then she asked me to download Symantec and to install it, together with the RPM application. After that, she handed me a CAI CD of Lotus Notes, which I promptly installed in my laptop. When it was done with the installation, it was time for lunch.

When I returned from my break, I started to study the CAI. It was pretty interesting, actually. Then, Ms. Clair interrupted me and asked me to open my Lotus Notes appliction. I did. It was time for me to be officially part of the team. Ms Clair asked me to save the email addresses of the team members. Tomorrow, I will have the Title of Editor. That is, I could have access to the Database and I could modify the files.

Yey.

In other news, nakapulot ako ng P20 sa Food Street. At mukhang ayaw sa akin ng Korean student ko. Oh well. Bahala na. Magkakaalaman sa Wednesday. or bukas. Ewan.

-----

I watched The Island during the weekend. One particular dialogue exchange caught my fancy.

A: What is God?

B: Do you know the feeling of wanting something so much that you close your eyes and ask for it?

A: Yeah...

B: Well, God is the guy who ignores you.

Day Four

Because of the train delay at the MRT, the real reason for my being late (that is, that I was unable to wake up early) had remained unknown to my boss. Yey.

I arrived at the office an hour late at around 9:30AM. I continued the CAI tutorial on Lotus Notes during the morning and during the start of the afternoon. I then installed Visio on my laptop, which I used to create the process flowcharts for certain procedures.

---

I removed from my cellphone that which you had given me. I kept it there for three reasons. One, because it was from you. Two, because you told me to attach it there. Third, because I wanted people to tease me about it. Why? Because a person such as I wouldn't normally have such a thing as a purple cow with my phone. And when people see that, well, you know what they would think.

Anyway, I decided to stop the illusion. G/god, I'm so pathetic.

Day Five

I got to the office at around 9:15. Late as usual. When I got to my chair, I started with Visio again. This time, I was tasked to come up with process flowcharts for Data Fix, Emergency Fix, and Change Management Processes.

Day Six

I came to office late again. I arrived at 10AM. As soon as I was seated, Ms. Claire gave me my task for today: to gather the HR Connect Project Schedule from each member of the team. She gave me the permission to pester them for their individual inputs. After that, I was asked to continue finalizing the timesheets of the team.

I did some computations. I discovered that I am a bit more than an hour short of my required hours for the past days. So, I had decided to do overtime today so as to make up for these hours, which would total 2.38 hours. That is, including today's tardiness.

Aaaand, Ms. Rumen needs me to work on a long overdue P8 submission. To do so would mean no sleep for me tonight. Great, huh? Well, at least, I wouldn't get late for work tomorrow. I summon the powers of black coffee to help me.

Yey.

I have no life.

Day Seven

No rest for me though.

Anyway, I re-discovered the joys of using the vending machine. Then it had occured to me as I started to insert the 20-peso bill in the machine that a long time had passed since I had last used one. If memory serves well, the last time was during my high school years. Wow.

I had Caffe Mocha by the way.

I had just finished my morning task, that is, the finalization of the timesheets for the AMS team. Note to self, AMS stands for Application Management Services. I keep on forgetting that. Might as well put it into writing.

Day Eight

I arrived late. Note to self: You are behind (IBM) schedule by 2 hours and 20 minutes, approximately.

When I arrived, I got to the Project HR Connect Consolidated Project Schedule. I'm still on it as of the moment.

Day Nine

I arrived at around 930AM but that's okay. I plan to stay here in the office late anyway.

When I arrived, I started fixing the discrepancies of the timesheets. I am just about through except for one person. Somebody also gave me an update on one of the projects. It's nearly 7PM. I will leave at around 8PM.

I need to get a life.

Everyday Is Exactly The Same

  1. I wake up, or at least I try to, every morning.
  2. I go to the Bathroom where I usually stay standing still for around 10 minutes.
  3. The first splash of water on my body is cold. It's usually what wakes me up.
  4. I need around 30 minutes to prepare myself after I wake up.
  5. Then I'm off to work or wherever. I won't be back home until it's very late in the night or very early the next day.
  6. Go back to step 1.

Day 10

Wow. Double digits. I arrived at 10AM on this day. 10 at 10. Yey.

Nothing much. Just fixing some of the timesheets and had a hands on with MS Project and APACHE.

Oh, and I'll be "going home" with someone. Ha.

Day 11

Ms. Claire left me under Steven's supervision. I was asked to continue with the Timesheets. I finished the May columns. I also updated HR Connect Excel file. Will submit it to Steven. I now have 4 hours and 30 minutes that I should make up for.
