The Odd Number

Would you believe it if I told you that early this day was probably the first time that this news failed to bring a smile to my face? Well, that is because my class is already late as it is. If I fail to discuss everything before the final examinations, I would fail to be able to fail anyone. Why am I fixated on failure? I wonder. Haha.

On a more serious note, I really don't intend to fail anyone. I'm willing to give them a fighting chance even. They'll only fail if they take that for granted. Actually, the results of the second quiz are more promising. However, even with 40 additional points, the average scores of more than half of the class (approximately) still fell below the passing percentage of 65. If I remember right, 11 of the 19 will still fail.

Then again, we still have one more quiz to take. And then there's the final exam. There's always hope. I hate that, actually.

That is with the stress on the "ES". Pun intended. This is really stressful for me. My Thursday class was supposed to have a report while my MWF class still had a pending quiz, one that they need even, given their average. And now, I have to re-do my plans.

Anyway, last weekend (or was that Friday?), I bought a book. Another Murakami. My second. Dance Dance Dance. That was very fortunate for me since our area turns into a river with heavy downpour, trapping us all in. That is, unless we brave the waters and walk in it. So, that book helped me kill time. As the protagonist in the novel says: "Killing time's a tough job." (Or something to that effect.)

 

And oh. There's another person keeping me busy, by the way. Happily busy. Haha.

Last night, on account of someone having told me that a particular someone told another someone that we [the second someone in this sentence and I] don't have any spark, I've come to another rather interesting realization about myself. So that explains the title of this entry. That is all.

Having nothing better to do last night, I rented some VCDs. One of which is Equilibrium. A character from the movie recited an excerpt from William Butler Yeats' He Wishes For The Cloths Of Heaven.

 

"But I, being poor, have only my dreams.

Tread softly. Because you tread on my dreams."

 

is a movie I've seen recently, and will probably encounter again sometime. Like with all movies, all one can do about it is watch. I'm never a party to it.
